  • Bolt, the movie. The hamster in the bubble is a riot and when Mittens explains to Bolt that all cats have a dog complex, I nearly wet myself.
  • Sour jelly babies
  • My snooze button.
  • Having my hair and make-up professionally done . (I’m still not so keen on the photo shoot part though.)
  • The shoe section at Mr Price. Three pairs for R329! You’ve gotta love cheap fashion.
  • My Mac. Have I mentioned I still stroke it every day?
  • Tweetdeck. Geeky I know, but I really enjoy how I can filter the info. And for my iPhone, Twitterrific.
  • Our new bookshelf. Every day is one step closer to my own wall to wall library.
  • The MANGO-OMC intern. She is an angel sent from heaven who brings donuts to work.
  • My gray skinny Levi jeans. They go with everything.
  • The new Vikas Swarup (he of Q&A/Slumdog Millionaire fame) book, The Six Suspects.
  • Being laterally and vertically South.

(This is not necessarily a  good thing, but at least I am enjoying myself.)

    I’m no Nigella Lawson so enjoy eating out when the opportunity arises and since our return from Europe, we seem to be on a culinary whirlwind.

    A while back I did a post on One Hit Wonders listing some of the places I go to for specific dishes. Lately, it seems I have been more interested in the company and the restaurant/bar rather than the food, however as we all know a restaurant is only as good as its last meal.

    My new favourite places:

    Il Leone in Green Point (dinner)

    Although pricey, this establishment does Italian better than the Italians (and I’ve just come from Italy). Their food is superb – do try the aubergine and parmigiana starter followed by the lemon butter veal for mains and the heavenly panacotta for dessert – their wine delicious and even with the notable absence of a load Italian Mama, this place has ambiance and comfort all rolled into one.

    Manos in Green Point (lunch)

    Minimalistic white decor, delicious food, great service and the perfect venue for a business lunch in terms of location, free parking and the brown paper sheets that cover the tables which are ideal for scribbling notes. There’s also a car wash around the corner in the undercover parking if you prefer spending your weekends with family and friends rather than polishing your pride and joy.

    Make sure you book though, they are popular.

    Lazari in Gardens (breakfast)

    A firm favourite among Cape Town’s über cool not only because of their famous pink cup cakes with sprinkles, fantastic vibe, great view, ever present and super nice owner, but also for their scrumptious breakfasts. Do try the eggs benedict (weekends only) or croissant french toast with bacon and fruit salad.

    For me of course the plus is that it’s just around the corner, perfect for a lazy Saturday morning brekkie with the regulars.

    1. Sleep, sleep and more sleep. I’m a 10 hour girl.
    2. Snacks. I love food. Bite size snacks rock. Variety is the spice of life.
    3. Bathing. I can lie there for hours. Throw in some girly bath salts, a candle or two and I turn into a cliche.
    4. Bono – she seriously is the coolest cat in the world.
    5. Marshmallow fluff. Discovered the best fluff on Miss K’s cupcakes in Green Point. Also found a bottled version at Sweets for Heaven, but it’s just not the same.
    6. Walki talkies. I get my own private channel at Rocking the Daisies! Wooohoooo!
    7. Southern Comfort and lime on the rocks.
    8. King size beds and down duvets. Why settle for less?
    9. A view. I would live in a cardboard box if the trade off was a good view.
    10. My Audi. It really is the sexiest car in the world.
